A Deep Dive Into AI Maturity and Revenue Growth
I’m energized after attending the State of AI Marketing event hosted by the Marketing Artificial Intelligence Institute. The advancements in AI technologies and tools are mind-blowing. We’re seeing a huge leap in capabilities of large language models (LLMs) and the evolving tools that enhance their utility.
While most organizations are currently using AI to boost productivity and create more content faster, the future holds much more, like leveraging AI for strategic gains in revenue and innovation. The narrative is shifting from ‘ready, fire, aim’ to ‘ready, aim, fire’!

AI for Accelerating Revenue and Innovation
According to the State of Marketing AI Report, the focus in the coming year is clear. Leading companies will distinguish themselves by employing AI not just for efficiency, but also to drive revenue and innovation.
Given that 59% of respondents want to use AI to accelerate revenue growth, and 58% aim for a higher ROI on campaigns, it’s crucial to elevate how we use AI. Strategically using AI leads to better alignment with your goals and greater success in your marketing endeavors.
With the pace of change occurring with AI, Agentic AI (stream of agents all acting to complete a complex task), we’ve got to be more alert than ever to ensuring that the agents skills are uptodate, and not just representative of the “average” prevailing wisdom for their focus area.
Understanding the AI Maturity Framework
The AI Maturity Framework categorizes how organizations utilize AI. The first two levels are all about productivity and efficiency, where most of the focus is today. Companies are getting more done at a faster rate, but we can go beyond that.
At the top level of the AI maturity ladder, we find a truly transformative approach—using AI as an advisory intelligence. This means augmenting human expertise with AI insights, making strategies more effective and marketing campaigns more impactful.
Leveraging AI as an Advisory Intelligence
AI’s role is not just limited to improving the output side of productivity. When we use AI as an advisory intelligence, we harness insights that amplify our human expertise (inserting quality and creativity). AI is still evolving and doesn’t perform metacognition tasks that humans do, but it provides valuable data and patterns.
This approach helps create more precise and resonant marketing strategies that better connect with your ideal customers. However, the foundation of any effective AI-powered marketing strategy must be built on a customer-first content strategy that prioritizes genuine value over volume. High-impact, resonant campaigns are the key to hitting your targets and driving revenue growth.
